The Ministry for Gozo has said that work on several roads around the island are once again under way. This includes the conclusion of the work on the road from Nadur to Ramla beach, which has been laid with tarmac, as well work on the maintenance of the stone walls, the building of new pavements and maintenance to a belvedere on the road. The Ministry said that this has improved access to the beach for both locals and tourists.

The road from San Lawrenz down to Dwejra is also under construction, with approximately 1.5km of road to be completed, the work will include widening of parts of the road and the rebuilding of stone walls, among others. Due to the nature of the intensive work that is being carried out the road has to be closed on a temporary basis. However, if work permits, the public will be given access where possible, the Ministry said.

The Ministry for Gozo conclulded by saying that the work on these roads, including the road to Ta’ Pinu and the Xlendi Road, was made possible from the European Regional Development Fund under the Programme of Cohesion Policy of the European Union for the period 2007 to 2013.

The Gozo Minister is allways hideing behind her finger, but the Nadur farmers are not stuped , they will never forget what has been constructed down the Ramla Road and the eternal destraction that this Cemetery project is going to have on water and agricultural land.

i am asking for better signage and traffic managment to the current road reconstruction on the main road between victoria and xewkija traffic lights, at present traffic bound for victoria is being diverted either through xewkija village or a non residential route, we live in the centre of xewkija and it appears that the majority of traffic is passing through the village, this causes problems for us with virtualy 24hour traffic passing right by our house causing sleep deprivation, exhaust and noise pollution and general upset.
i realise these road works are much needed, like many more, but a little more consideration for residents when their is a non residential route avalable would be appreciated, even limiting traffic though xewkija to duering day light hours would be better than the current system,
we were informed by a nice glossy leaflet that this road rebuilding project will go on till at least next spring, i dont think i can survive without a decent nights sleep till then
