The Ghajnsielem Local Council together with the Council of Tolfa in Italy, organised a joint workshop between the Tolfa Police Force and Maltese Police Force.

The seminar was held at the Grand Hotel in Ghajnsielem last month. The police group from Tolfa was headed by Mayor Alessandro Battilocchio, Assistant Commissioner R. Zammit from the Region B together with a police squad from Gozo also participated in this seminar.

Several topics were discussed which included control enforcement of the community, monitoring control of alcoholic and drug abuse, immigration, legal framework and new EU law legislation.

Dr. Chris Said opened the seminar and thanked both local councils who had for the past nine years managed to organise several cultural activities between them. Dr Said went on to say that this was a very successful twinning, with several exchange trips taking place each year keeping the strong friendship alive. He thanked all the participants attending the seminar.

Ghajnsielem Executive Secretary, Amanda Cauchi, read a message from the Mayor, Francis Cauchi, who wasn’t able to attend the seminar due to commitments on behalf of the Ghajnsielem Local Council abroad. The Ghajnsielem Mayor said that in the framework of EU values this was a good occasion for an exchange of best practices and experiences among our local police in which it represents another step in the friendship among Tolfa and Ghajnsielem. He said that this was an opportunity to both police forces from two different European Union countries to share and discuss their respective experiences together.
