Kayaking in Gozo is just one of the events being organised this summer by Nature Trust (Malta).

Environmental non-profit, non-governmental organisation Nature Trust (Malta) regularly organises a variety of events aimed at promoting environmental awareness and summer provides an excellent opportunity to appreciate all things natural, particularly those related to the beautiful Mediterranean Sea.

The following are the events that Nature Trust has planned for its members and the general public for July and August.

Kayaking in Gozo

Kayaking along the Gozitan coast from 5pm till sunset on the 16th of July. The route depends on weather conditions, but the starting point is expected to be Mgarr Harbour. Double, sit-on-top kayaks will be used. The event is supported by Gozo Adventures (www.gozoadventures.com) to help raise funds for Nature Trust projects. Price: €25 per person. Gozo and Comino boat trip

Nature Trust’s annual full-day boat trip will take place on the 24th of July. New visits include the long cave near Elephant Rock, San Dimitri Cave, Dwejra Bay and the cavity of Comino. The boat leaves from Sliema Ferries at 8.45am. Price: €30 for adults and €15 for children (€5 reduction for members); €10 deposit required: HSBC Account Number 039-069-000001. Stars and seabirds

Nature Trust, in conjunction with John J. Borg and the Astronomical Society of Malta, is organising a coastal Blue Flag event sponsored by the Malta Tourism Authority on 5 August. The event will take place at the garden along the Zurrieq promenade, overlooking Blue Grotto, from 8pm onwards. Participants will be invited to observe the moon, and then follow a talk and observe Cory’s Shearwaters as they return to their site near Wied iz-Zurrieq. Email: annalise.falzon@gmail.com

Lejla Maltija at Wied Ghollieqa

The environmental NGO will be organising a social gathering on 20 August at Wied Ghollieqa. The event starts at 7pm and goes on till late. Price: €15 (includes food and wine) and children under 14 enter for free. Other drinks will be sold at the bar. Email: info@naturetrustmalta.org
