The stories covered in this weeks issue are:

1. Fr. Michael Said, a young priest hailing from the Parish of St. Peter and St. Paul in Nadur, was installed as Parish-priest of St. Paul’s Shipwreck Parish in Munxar by His Lordship Mgr. Mario Grech, Bishop of Gozo. The ceremony, so impressive and highly symbolic, was held in the Parish Church of Munxar which was adorned in all its splendour.

The function started with a cortege from the Parish Centre. The witnesses were Mark Azzopardi and Lino Curmi. Fr. Michael is the 5th Parish-priest of Munxar. He had been parish administrator since taking over from Can. Tonio Galea in October 2010. Following the liturgical function the numerous congregation of priests, relatives, friends and parishioners were entertained in the parish square where Fr. Michael also cut the cake.

2. The painting “Our Lady of Sorrows in the Pilate’s courtyard” is the last painting from a set of six revolving around the theme of Our Lady of Sorrows. They were executed for the parish church of Saint Paul’s Bay in Malta. They are the works of Paul Camilleri-Cauchi and were blessed during a ceremony held on Friday, July 22.

3. Xaghra council recently held its first edition of ‘Summer Nights’ at Victory Square. Diana Formosa and Hayley Refalo sang a number of songs, while a group of children, taught by Jennifer Attard, gave a dancing performance. Morena and Band enthralled the audience with a one-hour live concert.
