According to figures from the National Statistcs Office, in June, industrial production decreased by 1.7 per cent from 104.4 points in June of the previous year. Capital and consumer goods fell by 7.5 and 3.1 per cent respectively, pushing the index down. This was partly mitigated by a rise of 1.0 and 3.7 per cent in the production of intermediate goods and energy respectively.

At the NACE division level, the repair and installation of machinery and equipment and manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers declined by 24.1 and 13.0 per cent respectively, reflecting the decline in the capital goods sector. Other declines were registered in the manufacture of food products, manufacture of wearing apparel, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other manufacturing. In contrast, the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, manufacture of beverages, manufacture of textiles and printing and reproduction of recorded media increased.
