On the occasion of the titular feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Victory Philharmonic Society of Xaghra (A.D. 1898) said that it has just launched a new CD of festive band marches which are to be played during the feast. The recording of these marches was held at the ‘Dun Alwig Camilleri’ Hall in February of this year, under the baton of Mro. Joseph Galea LCM and the supervision of John Cauchi, the recording engineer.

This CD, entitled Zernieq (Dawn), contains ten festive marches written by different local composers and three popular hymns in honour of Maria Bambina. These are the hymn ‘Ejjew Infahhru lil Marija’ (Mikiel Farrugia), Merhba lil Mons. Isqof Joe Bonello (Joseph Galea), Lin-Nanna Maggie (Antoine Mercieca), Sarah G (Ray Sciberras), Stentor (Vincenzo Ciappara), St. Angelo (Louis Bongailas), Jesther (Anthony Aquilina), Margaret (Emmanuel Bugeja), The Legend (David Caruana), Marija Bambina (Henry Attard), Melita (Giuseppe Muscat), the hymn ‘Marija Bambina Inkurunata’ (Emmanuel Bugeja) and the hymn to the Victory Band (Nazzareno Refalo).

This CD can be obtained from the Victory Philharmonic Society Band Club or from the members of the central committee at the price of €12.
