The Armed Forces of Malta’s Maritime Squadron today held Regimental Form Up Parade at Haywharf, Floriana, that was followed by a Holy Mass to celebrate the unit’s patron saint, the Our Lady Star of the Seas (Santa Marija, Kewkba tal-Bahar).

Squadron Officers and men from the unit’s respective Commands, formed up for the parade which included a trumpet call and a Malta flag-raising ceremony ahead of Holy Mass. The AFM’s Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Joseph Meli concelebrated Mass with Rev. Fr. Bernard Mangion OPM Cap.

In his sermon, Fr. Meli underlined the importance the pride the troops ought to feel for the service they render to others, and in cherishing the sense of unity amongst themselves, which makes them more efficient in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities.

Commander AFM, Brigadier Martin Xuereb, and Deputy Commander AFM, Colonel David Attard where amongst those attending in the congregation which also included recently commissioned former NCOs and retired personnel.
