Alan Bonnici, President of Stars And Stripes Malta (SASM) presented Mark Miceli-Farrugia with the Honorary President certificate of the same organisation. Mr Miceli-Farrugia has just returned to Malta after having served for four years as Malta’s Ambassador to the USA. He was based in Washington DC. The Honorary Presidency was awarded to Mr Miceli-Farrugia in recognition for his role as Maltese Ambassador to the USA to promote Malta both economically as well as culturally. As Ambassador he also assisted many Maltese and Americans of Maltese descent who live, study and work in this great country. Such services match the objectives of SASM.
In Malta, Mark is now redirecting his efforts towards the Meridiana Wine Estate, a venture established in 1987 in partnership with Edward V. Bartoli with the aim to produce world class wines of Maltese character. Current plantings produce an estimated 200,000 bottles. A portion of the produce is exported to Europe and the US. His holding company, Terrae Reditus, also successfully launched Leila carob-based digestive liqueur in 2004.
Mr Miceli-Farrugia qualified in Diplomatic Studies at the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies in 1992. He graduated with a Master’s in Science degree in Management Studies at the London School of Economics. He is married to Josette, a solicitor, and has a 13-year-old son, Christopher.
