“After a long wait,” The San Lawrenz Local Council said, “works are now finally underway in Triq San Lawrenz. The roadworks, which are the responsibility of The Ministry for Gozo, will run from the San Lawrenz monument towards the square.
The Council said that the works have been planned to cause the least impact on the residents and visitors to the village of San Lawrenz as well as Dwejra Bay “However,” the Council said, it is “asking everyone to understand and appreciate that during the works some roads will need to be closed.”
The major road works on Triq San Lawrenz will include a solid base for more durability, as well as the construction of a trench in which the services will be housed.
The Local Council said that work will also be starting on the square of San Lawrenz. These works will include road surfacing and extensive works to pass all the services underground. Part of the work being carried out in the square is co-financed by the European Union.
In a statement the Local Council “thanked the Minister for Gozo for the work that is being carried out on the road and also apologised for any inconvenience that these works may cause. The Council asked for everyone’s cooperation so that the works will progress smoothly and urged the contractor to carry on with his work in the best way possible and as soon possible.”
