The group ‘The Guiding Light’ located at the Jesus of Nazareth Church in Xaghra is proud to present the 11th edition of the Live Crib with this year’s theme being “For we have seen his star in the east” (Mt 2,2).

Over the past ten years, the group which welcomes adolescents and youths who are united in their quest towards a spiritually guided life, has presented the live crib with the sole aim of delivering a message to the Maltese and Gozitan families and all those who visit the live crib. This event has become a sought after event in the community, not just because of the way it has been organised throughout the past years but mostly because of the unforgetable experience that these youths achieve every year. This live crib has always been able to offer something different during this festive season. With its main aim having been from the very first day to deliver Chirst’s message to the world, the live crib focuses on the meaning of Christ’s birth rather than telling the story.

The Christmas story these days has become an image of past events. Although one might believe that this season comes only once a year the Christmas message should live through us throughtout the whole year. Christmas is all around us, all year, every day, we can celebrate the Christmas message in the way we live with the people around us . Christmas is when we give ourselves to other, that is the best gift that we can offer this year.

The aim of ‘The Guiding Light Group’ is that the live crib is able to spread the joy that comes with this season by expalining the meaning behind the season. This year visitors will be able to see innovative scenes depicting the main themes and traditions related to Christ’s time. The theme this year is related to the journey travelled by the Three Kings. Just like the three kings every Catholic is also searching for the truth. As always the Holy Eucharist also remains the main central theme and thus one will be able to see the spring which represents life.

The nativity scene is situated in Mannar Street exactly next to the Church of Jesus of Nazareth in Xaghra Gozo, on the left hand side. Entrance is free. The live crib will be open on the following dates:

24th December 2011, from 6.30 pm till 8.00 pm;

25th December 2011, from 3.00 pm till 9.00 pm;

26th Decmeber 2011, from 6.00 pm till 9.00 pm

29th December 2011, from 6.00 pm till 9.00 pm

30th December 2011, from 6.00 pm till 9.00 pm

1st January 2012, from 3.00 pm till 9.00 pm
