year pack cover.jpgThe Year Pack, covering all issues for 2007, will be issued by the Philatelic Bureau of MaltaPost p.l.c. on this coming Monday, the 11th of February 2008. This year’s Year Pack, containing mint sets for all of last year’s fifteen philatelic issues, is once again presented in its usual attractive folder, with a beautiful photograph of Caravaggio’s masterpiece The Beheading of St John. This magnificent work of art, reputedly the only Caravaggio painting carrying his signature, is rightfully considered one of Malta’s artistic treasures.

Another Caravaggio masterpiece, the St Jerome – a portrait of the hermit saint – is shown on the inside cover. Both The Beheading of St John and St Jerome were painted in Malta by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio during his eighteen-month stay on the island two years before his death in 1610.

The inside cover of the Year Pack carries technical details relating to the various issues. Besides being much in demand by collectors, both locally and abroad, these Year Packs also make ideal gifts, and are equally sought after by visitors as souvenirs and gifts.

This Year Pack, the 20th in the Year Pack series, will be available from all MaltaPost outlets in Malta and Gozo as from Monday 11 February, and from the Philatelic Bureau at the MaltaPost p.l.c. Head Office, 305, Triq Hal-Qormi Marsa. The Year Pack, which comes in an attractive protective plastic cover, retails at €49.00 / Lm25.33 including VAT. Year Packs from 1994 to date, are still available through the Philatelic Bureau, Tel. 2596 1740, e-mail philately@maltapost.com. Additional details about this Year Pack are also available from the MaltaPost website, www.maltapost.com
