The Gozo SPCA Rehoming Centre in Victoria held its regular ‘Open Morning’ on Sunday. Even though it was a cloudy, damp and windy morning, the Society volunteers had plenty of visitors to the Centre, where a warming cup of coffee was ready if needed.
The Society volunteers chatted to visitors about the animals that are at the centre waiting for homes, as well as offer help and advice if it was needed.
The Gozo SPCA said that “the visitors included a group of delightful young people, who form part of the Nadur Youth Council.” They had a chat with the volunteers there and the group mentioned “that they would really like to encourage more local young people to lend a hand at the Centre.” They were also able to take out four of the dogs from the Centre for a walk, which apart from being fun for everyone, also gives the dogs valuble time out of the kennels and a chance for them to interact with new people.
Other visitors who called in during the morning expressed the hope that they will be able to help in the future with fostering and dog walking.
The morning’s event coincided with the charity fair held on the adjacent football ground.
