This weeks articles in the PDF download are:

1. The OASI Foundation’s Primary Prevention Team held the 21st edition of the annual open-air festival Riflessi Sajfin, at the Menqa in Marsalforn. The four hour festival was a huge success, with a variety of artists performing on stage and with hundreds of Maltese, Gozitans and foreigners attending the event.

The festival’s stage was provided by the Gozo Culture and Information Office at the Gozo Ministry, and was equipped with the latest light (by MICHO Lighting) and sound (by ProStage Sound). The thrilling experience was a delight for presenters Christabelle Borg and Deborah C.

A number of new performers and other established singers and dancers were given the opportunity to perform this year: Aurora Folk Group, Gozo Line Dancers by Josephine Farrugia, Power House, The Turning Point Dance Theatre and Gymnastics Gozo, Central Academy of Dance, The Art Factory, Centre Stage Dance Academy, Mikaela Bajada, Nicole Azzopardi, Brenton Azzopardi, and Sarah.

2. As part of the Public Art Scheme launched by the Gozo Ministry, a public monument ‘Gozo Gossiping’ was erected at the newly refurbished Villa Rundle Gardens and inaugurated by the Minister of Gozo Giovanna.

The monument, which is 180cm high, was designed and carved by Gozitan sculptor Joe Xuereb from massive limestone blocks that were specifically cut and brought over from Siggiewi.

‘Gozo Gossiping’ monument is composed of two seated figures chattering and whispering together bringing out and portraying the local characteristic of the island inhabitants. Undoubtedly this project can be considered as the biggest achievement for sculptor Joe Xuereb.

3. The Emergency Response and Rescue Corps (E.R.R.C.) Cadets have attended their annual Summer Camp. A number of activities were carried out, where the cadets had the chance to practice the first aid and survival skills they continuously learn during meetings held during the year.

Simulations, cooking meals themselves and building a survival shelter are only a few of the activities carried out. Of course, apart from these educational activities, other games and challenges included an obstacle race, abseiling and rock climbing, task hunts, building a raft and so on.

The Cadets in the E.R.R.C. are a group of youngsters between the ages of 6 and 15 who meet together to enhance social skills as well as educational skills, which will all prove to be useful in their future life.

Teamwork, socialisation and great fun were the three main aims during this camp; and were successfully induced. A well done goes to all cadets and a big thank you to all E.R.R.C. volunteers who helped throughout the camp.
