GUG in collaboration with Agenzija Zghazagh and JP2 Youths organised the second edition of Youth Gozo. The activities started on Friday morning and concluded on Saturday.

The theme of all the activities were connected with the ‘European Year of Active Ageing and Intergenerational Solidarity.’

The first event was a structured Dialogue with Gozitan Students on this theme which was held at the Bishop’s Seminary in Victoria Gozo. In the evening, a “Youth Art Expo” of Gozitan young artists was organised in collaboration with Wistin Camilleri Gozo Centre for Arts and Crafts, in Ghajnsielem.

A regional conference entitled ‘European Year of Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity – Regional Perspective’ was held at the Gozo University Campus in Ghajnsielem on Saturday.

During the conference some of the discussions centred around the point that youths should be empowered and given the opportunity to express their opinions. While youths can help in teaching modern skills such as their knowledge in IT, the older generation can share their experiences and help in guiding the younger generations.

The organisers said that the principle points which were expressed and concluded during the weekend of activities were that “we should strive to increase the communication, mutual understanding and respect between the different generations found in our society.”
