In a joint enforcement action carried out yesterday between the Environmental Health Directorate and the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Regulatory Department, officials from both entities sealed over 106kg of fresh poultry products due to lack of traceability and around 8kg of whole chicken which was being marketed of Maltese origin when it was originating in Italy.

These products were sealed from two different outlets and legal action will be initiated.

The Environmental Health Directorate said that, once again, food business operators are being reminded of their duties in particular to ensure traceability of the food supply and that truthful information is displayed to consumers.
