Heritage Malta, next Sunday will be exhibiting a selection of plaster casts made by well known Maltese artist Antonio Sciortino at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Valletta. The casts, which form part of the National Collection, have not been on permanent display for a number of years.
The casts are being displayed as part of the event ARTISPORT which is being organised jointly by Heritage Malta and the Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport. The event which is open to children between the ages of 5 and 10 will consist of two activities; traditional children’s games in Hastings Gardens and a Treasure Hunt at the Museum of Fine Arts.
The casts form part of the Antonio Sciortino Bequest to the people of Malta made by the artist himself in 1947. These works previously belonged to the sculptur and were last exhibited at the Antonio Sciortino Exhibition in Gozo last August.
The National Museum of Fine Arts in South Street Valletta is open to the public daily from 09.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs. Tickets cost Euro 2.33 for adults and Euro 1.16 for students and senior citizens (60 years and over).
Children taking part in ARTISPORT will enter the museum free of charge. Heritage Malta is also giving the public on that day the opportunity to purchase Heritage Malta publications at a reduced price.
