The Victoria Local Council in 2012 received the planning permission to refurbish and in some parts, rebuild, the children’s playing field in the Centre of Victoria, adjacent to the Bus Terminus.
Dr Samuel Azzopardi, the Mayor of Victoria, said last year that the playing field was to be turned into a recreational area for the entire family, with a children’s area, reading area, youth lounge and new kiosk. The area would also include a Wifi connection.
The photographs show how the refurbished playing field should look on completion.
The playing field was passed to the Local Council by the Government, following many years of neglect. The state of the playing field was highlighted by the AD party in April 2009, when they visited the area and made a video. AD voiced their support for the Local Council in its quest to acquire the land from the Government.
The video below shows how the playing field will look.

This so called playing field has been a disgrace for a number of years. Don’t hold your breath for it to change. It is full of litter and worse – disgarded syringes etc – and nobody cares. I would not allow my child anywhere near it. In the name of refurbishment lots of mature and beautiful shrubs and bushes were removed never to be replaced. Come on Victoria council – do something for your people and really improve this area!
