Preparations for the “Ghajnsielem Blood Drive,” which will be taking place on Saturday the 31st of May are well underway.

The activity is being organised by the St Joseph Band Club in collaboration with the Malta Red Cross Gozo Branch and the Malta National Blood Transfusion.

The Band Club premises will be literally be turned into a blood donation centre. The Red Cross will organise a number or drills to enhance the event. The activity will start at 8.30am until 2.00pm.

The organisers are urging all potential donors to participate in this event. A reservation can be made by calling or sending an SMS on 99459426.

The Blood Donation Services have recently made an urgent appeal for groups A and O blood because reserves are so low that surgical operations risk being halted.

The Gozo General Hospital is also open for donations from Monday to Saturday between 8.00am and 11.30am.

It is very important that one takes with him/her one’s identity card.
