The Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, Chris Said, recently attended the annual activity of the Yada Dance Academy (Gozo) at the Oratory Don Bosco in Victoria.

The annual activity ‘At the Movies’, involves the participation of all of the students who attend the Yada Academy.

The Yada Dance Company started in Malta 25 years ago, with the Gozo Dance Academy following in 2001. From that time onwards hundreds of Gozitan students have attended and received their dance training at the academy.

Parliamentary Secretary Said thanked the academy for all the work they do and for offering this opportunity to young Gozitan students. He emphasised the importance of these young students not only focusing on academic studies, but that they were also given the opportunity to experience other things such as dancing, thus helping them to broaden their horizons.

At the end of the activity, Parliamentary Secretary Said presented a prize to the best student of each class, and also three special prizes:

1. Philippa Agius – The Bob Fosse Award for Overall Jazz Dance Performer.

2. Marthese Attard – The Paddy and Janatha Stubbs Award for Overall Dedication.

3. Gary Camilleri – The Margot Fonteyn Award for Overall Ballet Performer.
