Hunting and trapping
The government has announced the dates for the Autumn hunting season, following the recommendations made by the ORNIS committee.

Hunting from land will be allowed from two hours before sunrise till two hours after sunset between the 1st of September 2008 and the 31st of January 2009. Hunting on Sundays and public holidays will only be allowed up to 1.00pm.

In order to protect birds of prey, hunting from land will not be allowed between 3.00pm and two hours before sunrise, between the 15th to 30th of September 2008.

Hunting from boats will be allowed from the 1st of October 2008 to the 31st of January 2009.

The trapping of song birds is to be allowed between the 1st of October and the 31st of December 2008.

The trapping of golden plover and song thrush will be allowed from the 20th of October to the 31st of December 2008.

Whilst the trapping of Quail and Turtle Dove will be allowed between the 1st of September and the 30th of October 2008.

      this island or rather the people on it,are very confusing,on the one hand they welcome everything and everyone to not only p-ass through here,but stay and be treated like greek gods,yet on the other hand they object to their own,to practice a hobby which has been handed down to them by millions before them,bird trapping,and hunting,its an insolt to anyone<s intellegance, cause if we all had the same idea,s,we all be eating snails or frogs,and to say it all,for every bird that passes over this tiny island another million migrate over the sea, so i encourage birdlife and others,to leave these few hunters alone to pass their time anyway they wish, and go after the big shots that are ruining nature, in the first place,people that are causing all these illnesses,like cancer, but i guess hipocretes only try to do whats best convenient for them,
