PL Government will appoint an Animal Welfare Commissioner

The Labour Party Leader Dr Joseph Muscat paid a visit to the Island Sanctuary in Marsaxlokk. During his visit Dr Muscat said that, “a new PL Government will be appointing a Commissioner for Animal Welfare.
“The Commissioners remit will include investigating abuses, ensuring conformity with the law, embarking on educational campaigns for the protection of animals as well as proposing measures to ensure that our country becomes more animal-friendly.”
The PL Leader also emphasised the need for tough penalties in cases of animal cruelty, as well as the duty to increase educational campaigns to raise awareness on this sector.
PL candidates Gino Cauchi, Joe Cilia and Ivan Buttigieg were also present during this visit.
