Gozo College Girls’ Secondary School will be presenting its first ever live musical – Anne of Green Gables the Musical at the Oratory Don Bosco in Victoria this coming Saturday, starting at 7.30pm.
Preparations for the musical began towards of the end of the last school year, starting off with auditions for the show. Throughout this scholastic year students have been busy working on all aspects of the show, from rehearsing the script with director Mr Rob Ricards to costume design, choreographing the dances and designing the stage all with the help of various teachers from the school.
The show will see a whole cast of students take the stage with a live orchestra conducted by Maestro Mark Gauci. As the final days to the show’s first curtain call draw near students, parents and teachers alike are all hard at work even after school hours to make the show a huge success.
As this school production of the musical was mostly carried out by the students, a one day seminar was held in preparation.
This production has been partly sponsored by ‘Kreattiv,’ a funding programme that backs such initiatives.
Tickets cost €5 and are available from the Gozo College Girls’ Secondary or the Oratory box office.

I was present during rehearsals and during the performances for school children. A remarkable production…I call this holistic education and it is a joy to watch the students perform. The singing, acting and dancing abilities of the students, especially the main cast are outstanding. Having a live orchestra of professionals as well as students ably conducted by Maestro Gauci was added inspiration to all involved. WELL DONE and ANCOR!
