Product Safety Inspectors of the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) have again encountered electrical Travel Universal Adaptors like the once shown in the photograph.
These adaptors pose a serious risk of electrocution to consumers as the various configurations can be accessed whilst the adaptor is plugged into an electrical mains outlet. They had been banned some time ago but have now been found again available to consumers.
The Authority advises consumers to refrain from using these adaptors and to return same to the place of purchase. It also warns economic operators to withdraw the products from the market with immediate effect.
Should these products be encountered on the market during inspections by the Authority, legal action may be taken against the economic operators involved.
