The Ministry for Gozo has launched its official tourism site www.visit.gozo.com. This site was coordinated by Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo in order to foster more tourism in Gozo.

The Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo, during the official inauguration of the site, praised this initiative and promised that this was just one of the first steps taken by the current Government to demonstrate its serious commitment to the tourism sector in Gozo, which is a key pillar for the Gozitan economy.

He mentioned how in the past few days the Government had announced three important projects for the tourism sector Gozo, a cruise liner terminal, a Gozo Casino, as well as announcing that in the coming days it will launch an agritourism plan for the island.

Dr Refalo stated that these projects plus the launch of the www.visitgozo.com site shows clearly that the Government is implementing its electoral mandate regarding tourism in Gozo.

“The Ministry for Gozo conscious of the ever increasing importance of online channels as primary conduits for tourism promotion, is targeting specific resources to the promotion of the island of Gozo and Comino via electronic media. “

The portal also aims to help Gozo tour operators promote their business within a fiercely competitive market through the ease of online booking.

It will be the main vehicle for the Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development online presence, aims to increase tourist arrivals on the island who opt to stay in Gozo for more than one night, promote specific niches and target all potential tourists by promoting the island of Gozo and Comino as a travel destination.

The portal will have two distinct yet mutually-supportive roles. First, it will serve as the main online vehicle to promote Gozo and Comino as distinctive tourism destinations. In fact, it will present Gozo and Comino as distinct holiday destinations which can offer a unique holiday experience to the potential tourist.

Secondly, it will offer the capability to facilitate the planning for incoming visitors, providing an adequate tool to plan their itineraries including but not limited to, the search for and enquiry of, a number of tourist related services such as accommodation services and other leisure activities being offered by Gozitan enterprises.
