The South East division of the British Red Cross kindly donated one of their ambulances to the Malta Red Cross last month. Now going by the name` Molly,` Malta Red Cross volunteers drove her down to the port of Southampton where she was handed over to Sullivan Maritime. It then began its voyage by sea to Malta and arrived at its new home last week.The Malta Red Cross are currently upgrading all their ambulances in order to be in line with the new recommended standards and regulations issued by the EU. “We are firm advocates for ensuring that all recommended standards are adhered to, when it comes to health care and safety measures. These standards are there for a reason and at the end of the day could make or break a situation in an emergency. We would never take that risk.” said Robert Brincau, Malta Red Cross’ Operations Director.

Molly now joins the recently launched Mobile Clinic, ‘Cetta’ and all the other ambulances and rescue vehicles, each playfully nicknamed, who are kept at the Pembroke Head Quarters of the Malta Red Cross.

The Malta Red Cross extends its sincere thanks to Sullivan Maritime, sole agents for Grimaldi Lines in Malta, Medcoms and the Valletta Gateways Terminal (VGT) who have made the shipping of the new ambulance to Malta possible.

The Malta Red Cross Society is a Voluntary, Non-Governmental Organisation. For this reason it relies heavily upon support from the local community in terms of both donations and volunteers in order to make its work possible.
