Earlier this week Gozo SPCA said it received several messages about a Mother and seven puppies abandoned in a field in Ghajnsielem, Gozo. The NGO said that sadly there was no space for them at their Centre.
“They were being fed by a number of very kind people who live in the area, but with the weather taking a turn for the worst, a rescue plan was needed fast,” Gozo SPCA said.
“We contacted some of the sanctuaries in Malta, and Island Sanctuary kindly offered to take them all in. As there is no Animal Welfare Department in Gozo, the next problem was how to get them to Island Sanctuary, in the South of Malta.”
“Joseph Vella, the Director of Animal Welfare, was contacted, and he offered to send an animal ambulance from Malta to pick them up.” Gozo SPCA added, “the story has a very happy ending, with the pups and Mum now safely at Island Sanctuary.”

We are so happy to report that Island Sanctuary has very quickly found homes not only for the puppies, but the mother as well ! However, they still need financial help to look after them until they are ready to be rehomed, so any donations will be gratefully received by them.
