On Saturday the Winter league continued with Krishna C.C taking on Melita C.C, the spectators were anticipating what Bikram Arora and Haroon Majeed for Krishna or Andy Naudi for Melita were going to produce for the day.

The Krishna team won the toss and elected to bat first. Nowell Khosla and Mike Caruana opened the batting. Khosla was plumb L.B.W when he made six runs, this was in the third over, in the fourth over Tony Slater was walking back to the pavilion without troubling the scorers. Bikram Arora strode out to the crease with so much expectation (mainly from his team mates).

He scored twenty seven runs, unfortunately not a single boundary was scored. Caruana went on to retire after forty balls and return late in the innings, he made forty two runs which included four fours. John Rusher had a fantastic start to his innings slashing the first ball he faced to the boundary, he was run out a couple of balls later without adding any more runs.

Qamar and Waseem made two runs between them and the Krishna side were in trouble. Majeed entered and in true blaster style made fifty two runs from thirty two deliveries which included six fours and he remained not out. Kevin Krishna chipped in with nine runs towards the end of the innings.

With the extras the Krishna team totalled 158 runs from their overs. For Melita Deek Ali and Andy Naudi took two wickets each while John Prior and Niraj Khanna took a wicket each.

The father son combination of Pierre and Andy Naudi opened the innings for Melita. Andy was looking dangerous hitting a couple of fours in the first over, but was soon calmed down by the bowlers. He eventually played on after he had made twenty one runs from twenty one balls. Pierre ended up making nine runs. Simon Lavendar made six runs and was bowled by a ripper delivery from Qamar Abbas who went on to take three wickets.

This brought together Chris Riordan and John Prior who put on a match winning partnership of ninety six runs. Both retired, Riordan made forty six runs which included three fours while Prior made forty eight which included two fours and a six.

The score became a tie soon after and the Krishna lads managed to take two wickets while the score was as such. In came Niraj Khanna and smashed the first ball he faced straight down the ground for four runs which have his team the victory. For Krishna Bikram Arora was the only other bowler to take wickets he took two.

Next Saturday the postponed game between Krishna and Marsa will be played.

In the morning from 9:00 am till 10:30am the Sunoco cricket academy will take place.
