A new smartphone application has been launched by Gozitan students attending Sir MA Refalo Centre for Further Studies in Victoria, Gozo.
Code-X is the name of the group, which comprises eight Gozitan students from the Sir MA Refalo Centre who are are participating in a Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Competition.
The aim of this competition is to set up a young programming company by working together as a team while striving to gain market penetration and increase revenue streams by maximising the number of downloads.
Travel Buddy is a travel mobile app they designed which is aimed at the short stay tourist. Travel buddy aims to expose less known locations and activities in and around according to criteria set by the user of the application.
This app is programmed by local people with first hand knowledge of non-mainstream locations, festivals, foods and village quirks and the main aim of Travel Buddy is to offer an experience like no other for visitors to Gozo, thus complimenting existing travel information that can be found in mainstream travel media.
The group have named their first app Travel Buddy because like a travelling buddy the app will help visitors to Gozo narrow down an endless choice of options of what they can do in and around Gozo.
The app is available free of charge for both Android and Windows Smartphone and download links are available on the groups websites at http://www.codexmt.com/#!travel-buddy-info/cer.

Well done students, I downloaded it and it gave me lots of info that I did not know about and I live in Gozo. It will sure help the tourist and gives everybody ideas of what to do. Prosit tassew.
Just had a look around at this and with advertising amongst the travel industry and at the Airport, for arrivals perhaps also through Air Malta’s magazine etc, this could be a great asset for the visitor. Excellent!!
Is there no app for iPhones ?
