The e-Residence offices set up within the Ministry for Gozo, in St Francis Square, Victoria, were officially inaugurated today by the Minister for Home Affairs and National Security Dr Emanuel Mallia and the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo.
The full service started in the new Gozo Office in December last year. The eResidence Unit serves as a one-stop shop for foreigners who have queries about residence matters in Malta and Gozo, as well as other related issues.
The office has received 388 applications since its inception in December. There are currently six workers employed within the unit and it was created for those Gozitan workers who previously worked in it’s Maltese counterpart.
The Office is located on the left through the main green doors of the Consumer Affairs section in St Francis Square.
The collection of residence applications of Non-EU applicants is also due to commence from the Gozo office.
Staff at the Gozo unit are able to collect and examine applications for residence permits from EU citizens and exempt Non-EU citizens who have been residing in Gozo for more than 90 days and intend to reside further.
Applications are then registered on the e-Residence Permit database and interim residence permits are then issued within a minimum of 1 day and maximum of three days from the application receipt.
An approved of application is then sent to Citizenship and Expatriate Affairs Malta to print the e-residence card. The cards are then normally ready to collect from the Gozo Unit between two and four weeks later. Applicants are contacted to collect the cards.
