The MEPA Board has turned down the proposed planning scheme for a large site in Attard. The site became part of the development zone when in 2006 Parliament included this site in the Rationalisation of Development Boundaries exercise.

The planning scheme sought to establish the type and height for any future development on the site. The site is surrounded by a row of two storey terraced houses on one side, residential semi-detached villas on another side and the Potato grading shed.

The Board said it refused the proposed planning scheme as it includes an area of land which falls outside the development boundaries of the Rationalisation exercise which had been established by Cabinet and approved by Parliament in 2006.

The MEPA Board gave planning permission for the proposed extension of a block of apartments in Triq Sammy Bartolo, Mellieha. While permission for the construction of the entire block of apartments had been granted by the Appeals Tribunal in 2012, the MEPA Board today gave its consent for the construction of two penthouses and for works to be carried out to extend the back of the building by 3 meters.

The Board said it restricted the applicant to retain the set back effect that had been approved in the original planning permission.
