The Gozo Youth Council, the umbrella organisation for Gozitan Youths and youth organisations, has said in a statement this morning that it is against postponing the local council elections.

“Such elections come with a promise of Vote 16 and such young people who have a right to express their voice and opinion should be given such promised opportunity,” the Council said.

Youth Activism is vital for the well-being of the society and postponing such elections would underestimate the value of youths and undercut their enthusiasm, the Council added.

The Gozo Youth Council called on the Government to “seriously consider not postponing the local council elections.”
