Members of the Gozo Philatelic Society were among the first customers at Victoria Post Office to acquire the newly issued sets of 28 stamps depicting Grandmasters of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta between 1530 and 1798.
The images of the grandmasters were lifted from: “Histoire de l’Ordre de Malte” written by René Aubert de Vertot (1655-1733), whereas the portraits of the last five grandmasters were drawn by Maltese artist Cedric Galea Pirotta.
Officers present included secretary Antoine Vassallo, librarian Antoine Debrincat and Productions Manager Anthony Grech.
They are seen here together with postal employee Celestina Calleja , busy postmarking on their instructions.
