The Armed Forces of Malta has said that it has evacuated several persons who found themselves in difficulty early this afternoon in two separate operations.

Three crew members from a Maltese registered vessel which was in distress off the coast of Malta have been evacuated early this afternoon. The crew members, including one Maltese citizen, where safely brought on land with the assistance of the Italian Military Mission helicopter AB 212.

In a separate rescue operation, thirteen divers were reported to have found themselves in difficulty off Zurrieq. The divers were assisted by an AFM rescue swimmer who was dispatched from the Alouette Helicopter and by a civilian vessel.

All the divers have been recovered and brought safely to shore.
