The Mental Health Association Gozo, in collaboration with the Ministry for Gozo, today held its fifth annual National Conference, to mark Mental Health month.
Titled ‘L-Istress – tirbhu jew jirbhek?’ This year’s conference was addressed by professional speakers hailing from different sectors, dealing with psychological, emotional and social stress prevailing in today’s day and age. There were also live experiences related to the subject.
The conference was addressed by the Minister for Gozo, Dr Anton Refalo, who said, “stress can affect both adults and the younger generation, so it is very important to be here to gain knowledge about mental health.”
The Minister added even children are exposed to stress. “Therefore it good for us to be able to help as parents to our children, and we can only achieve this with the support and expertise necessary,” the Minister said.
“The knowledge helps a person to be able to recognise symptoms related to stress, that may change the way people behave and act, as well as their emotions. It is very important that there is good communication between parents and children, and all parents should find the time for their children, listen to what to they have to say, and guide them in a positive direction.”
Minister Refalo thanked the organisation for their commitment, as well as for their crucial work within the community.
