A record amount of over 16,000 people took part in today’s sixth edition of The President’s Solidarity Fun Run 2014.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca thanked the Maltese and Gozitan people who always come all out where there is a need for solidarity. She said the Maltese and Gozitan people recognise how to join forces wholeheartedly in giving their support.

The President added that the Maltese and Gozitan people are the best community worldwide, because when there is a need for support, they’re always at the forefront, and therefore, she said, not enough words could praise all people who took part in this great demonstration of solidarity in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. .

For this sixth edition of The President’s Solidarity Fun Run held in collaboration with the Malta Council for Sports, two Italian personalities were invited, Toto Schillaci, former Italian footballer of the World Cup, and Francesco Mariottini, a dancer who achieved great fame on the popular Italian program Amici.

For the first time The President’s Solidarity Fun Run was held over four routes. President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca took the University of Malta route, while Mr Edgar Preca took the Santa Venera route. Another route was from Paola, and the last one from the Palace of San Anton.

For this sixth edition of The President’s Solidarity Fun Run, the Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat, and the Leader of the Opposition Dr Simon Busuttil, also took part, along with a large number of MPs from each side.

The Fun Run is part of a series of activities organised by the Office of the President in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.

The next appointment will be for the Istrina Paqpaqli activity, which is due to take place on the 7the of December at the Malta International Airport.
