Prime Minister Joseph Muscat inaugurated the eighth edition of Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem on Sunday afternoon, also present for the occasion was the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo.
Last year 40,000 families visited this major attraction for the Christmas season in Gozo. The Prime Minister said that families don’t just visit the Nativity Village, they also visit other attractions and activities in the Christmas programme across the island, as well as spend the night in Gozo.
“Bethlehem f’Ghajnsielem is an activity which is stimulating the economy in our country, with a view to reducing seasonality to this island by attracting both tourists and Maltese,” Dr Muscat said.
During the inauguration, the Prime Minister praised and thanked all the volunteers and the Ghajnsielem Local Council, which year after year work to ensure that this activity is now part of the cultural calendar of activities on the island.
