Thousands of people from different Gozitan localities warmly welcomed the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca during the second day of the Istrina activities taking place in Gozo.

The activities started today in Gharb and at each of the locations visited by the President, there was a programme of entertainment, with seasonal music by local bands and children’s choirs singing Christmas hymns.

President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca thanked everyone for their involvement in Istrina this weekend, explaining how love is what makes the difference, and that love is what makes people distinct.

The President also thanked the Gozitans for choosing Baby Jesus as the centre of the Christmas activities this year, “as the real reason of Christmas is the joy and love we have for each other.”

The President paid a visit to the sports complex in Victoria where the Istrina programme in Gozo was being enjoyed by a large number of children. Present for this activity was the Minister for Gozo Dr Anton Refalo.

The visits then included Zebbug, Ghasri, Kercem, Munxar, Fontana, San Lawrenz and finally in Victoria to conclude the event with a great programme where a number of residents, organisations and companies made their donations for Istrina 2014..

The President announced that on the 26th of December, the day for the Istrina marathon event, which in Malta is held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Gozitans will once again be able to join in the event, during a 12 hour programme of entertainment, taking place in the parking place near the Arkadia Complex in Victoria.
