During a ceremony held this morning at the Police General Headquarters, several Police Officers were commended and awarded certificates for their outstanding service.

Police District 4 was awarded the shield of District of the Year for distinguishing itself in decreasing the crime rate. District 4 consists of Cospicua, Senglea, Vittoriosa, Kalkara, Zabbar, Marsascala, and Xaghjra.PC 840 R Psaila was awarded the Officer of the Year Award for being central in saving a person’s life after his car plunged in the sea in Ta’ Xbiex on the 15th March 2014.

Present for the ceremony were the Minister for Home Affairs and Security, Mr Carmelo Abela, the Speaker, Dr Anglu Farrugia, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Michael Cassar and other high ranking officers.

Mass was celebrated by the Force’s Chaplain, Fr Raymond Bonnici.OFM.
