Dutch landscape artist, Jos Willemsen will be giving a public talk this coming Saturday, organised by Fringefarm Community, when he will be revealing a new approach he likes to call “teaming with life” which allows both man and nature to optimise the benefits from the natural productivity and efficiency of ecosystems.

Public talk in Gozo & Malta: A path to sustainable landscapes and resilient economy

For Malta and Gozo, Willemsen and a local team have developed the concept of what they describe as “fringe-farming” and have worked on a project plan to implement this model in the Maltese community.

Fringefarm provides in better earning models to farmers and other rural entrepreneurs while also improving the natural world – as well as strengthening the local community. This approach also helps with climate change and the decline in resources, and offers an easy step by step road to sustainability.

A one hour talk about solutions peppered with practical examples from around the world, will be followed by a discussion.

The talk is taking place this coming Saturday, the 24th of January, at the NGO Centre in Xewkija between 11.00am and 1.00pm.

The same talk will also be held in Malta, on Monday, the 26th of January, starting at 7.30pm at, The Gaia Foundation – Nahhalija Road Ghajn Tuffieha.

Jos Willemsen is a Dutch landscape architect specialising in rural landscape development. His general sphere of work lies within nature-tourism and nature-farming. He is particularly inspired by the operation of ecosystems – and by people who create optimised ecological conditions to make their landscapes richer in life and richer as an earning-model.

His greatest motivation is the desire to enable people to cooperate with nature to make landscapes more productive and increase their spatial quality.
