Forum Opportunitajiet Indaqs Partit Nazzjonalista – FOIPN, held a conference in Gozo this week, which was addressed by the Opposition spokesman for Persons with Disability – Robert Cutajar.

He said that the Government had failed to respond to the Opposition’s questions on when it will commence work on a swimming pool in Gozo, which is greatly needed, he said, and that can be very beneficial for those people in Gozo with disabilities.

The conference was attended by representatives of local entities and NGOs from the disability sector in Gozo.

FOIPN said that the work of the Nationalist Party in this sector is at the heart of its policy for an inclusive society.

The conference was held as part of a programme of work by the FOIPN, which also includes a proposal to be put forward in Parliament by the Opposition, that the National Commission Persons with Disability, KNPD, becomes an entity that is independent from the Government, so as to enable it to function as a regulator, and to work smoothly in this very important area.

The conference was also attended by the Secretary General of the Nationalist Party, Chris Said, the Shadow Minister for Social Policy Paula Mifsud Bonnici and PN candidate for the next General Election Ryan Mercieca.
