On the occasion of the the 170th anniversary of the arrival of the statue of St John the Baptist in Xewkija. the Xewkija Prekursur Philharmonic Society will launch an exhibition at the Band Club entitled ‘Engravings.’

An original engraving by artist Justin Falzon will also be on display. Justin is an artist based in Gozo, who studied Fine Arts at the Lorenzo De Medici Art Institute in Florence.

During the four year course at the Institute, the focus of Justin’s studies was on drawing, painting and printmaking. His solo exhibitions include Insight, Kenuna Tower, Gozo (2001), In Search of the Soul, Hilton Malta (2006), Still Life, Calypso Hotel, Gozo (2006), Justetchings, Art…e Gallery, Victoria, Gozo (2011), and Skullscapes, Banca Giuratale, Victoria, Gozo (2013).

Everyone is invited to attend the exhibition, which will be open to the public between Monday, the 15th and Sunday, the 21st of June. The Feast of St John the Baptist is being celebrated in Xewkija between the 19th and 21st of June.

Other celebrations in Xewkija to mark this special event and feast include this weekend’s Fiori D’Argenta.
