AFM Maritime soldiers and officers currently undergoing familiarisation training onboard the Irish Vessel ‘LÉ Aoife,’ the Maltese flag was raised in a moment of historic significance.

The P62 will remain in Ireland for some days to come for her voyage to Malta later on this Summer. A Formal handing over ceremony will be accorded in the coming days marking the transfer of ownership from the Irish Defence Forces to the Armed Forces of Malta. As the Italians put it ‘ Vento in Poppa.’

The P62 acquisition falls part of the short term plans in order to enhance the AFM’s Offshore Capability.
