The Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights Roderick Galdes, has visited the Magro Bros tomato processing plant in Xewkija, as this year’s tomato season comes to an end.

During his visit Mr Galdes said that the Government is backing the tomato sector through subsidies, which will amount to about € 900,000 over seven years. “This will serve as an important financial support for families involved in this sector.”The Parliamentary Secretary was shown around various sections of the Magro Food Village, including the factory plant where he could see fresh tomato products in the making.

Before visiting the factory the Parliamentary Secretary also visited some of the fields where tomatoes were being harvested, and was able to meet some of the farmers present.
