Gozo celebrations for the 200th birthday of St John Bosco

The 200th birthday of St. John Bosco, patron saint of children and youths, is being celebrated this Sunday the 16th of August.
To mark this occasion, the Don Bosco Oratory of Gozo is organising a special event spread over two days between Sunday, the 16th and Monday, the 17th of August.
On Sunday, the Salesian Boys Brigade of Sliema will parade at 9.00am from Republic Street in Victoria to St. Augustine’s Square. The same Brigade will then accompany the procession with the statue of St. John Bosco which will leave the Oratory at 9.30am.
The procession will return to the Don Bosco Oratory before the High Mass being celebrated by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at 10.30am at the Oratory’s Chapel. The High Mass will be animated by the Chorus Urbanus under the direction of Mro. John Galea.. Everyone is invited to attend.
On Monday, the Don Bosco Oratory will be then organising a special birthday celebration for children. At 9.00am Archpriest Daniel Cardona will lead a Children’s Mass animated by puppets at the Oratory Chapel. Afterwords children will be treated with a Magic Show at the Oratory Ground by Mr. Remy.
Other activities on Monday morning for children, will include face-painting, a bouncy castle, a party and other surprises. This children’s activity will end at noon.
