MOSART is a project mentored by the Gozitan Mosaic artist Mary Portelli and it encompasses youths with mental health issues, together with youths active in the civil society. The event is being organised by the Gozo NGOs Association.
The project consists of research, an event and an exhibition where the youths will portray their work. Moreover the event will give a hands on experience to the general public to participate in the art of making mosaic.
The local community especially socially excluded youths will be empowered and given exposure to creative arts and the research will be carried out to create a collective memory with our Folk and Traditions.
The Gozo NGOs Association is an umbrella organisation that gather the Gozitan NGOs under its remit. The secretary of the Association, Ryan Mercieca said that “part of our work is to encourage NGOs to join efforts and apply for funding to implement collective funding and partnerships in projects.”
He explained that the term MOSART is a word combined between Mosaic and art with the aim to encourage more youth to participate in the creative arts.
The Hands-on events for the public will be held on Friday, the 18th of September from 8pm at Xlendi and again on Saturday, the 19th of September from 8pm in Marsalforn.
