The Gozo Youth Council is a platform which gathers under its remit the Gozitan Youth NGOs and the Gozitan Youths who work and study in Malta, in total amounting to over 3000 youths.

For the past year the GYC has been working on iLead – The Creative Leader Academy which gathered over 60 Gozitan Youths who trained themselves and creative thinking and leadership skills.

On behalf of the Gozitan Youths, the Gozo Youth Council has put forward the following proposal for the budget:

1) A Full Time Employee – The GYC was established as one of the electoral promises of this Government to support the Gozitan Youths and give them a platform to voice their ideas. The GYC said that, “such establishment came with the commitment from the Ministry for Gozo to give the GYC a salary to the Council to issue a call for applications to engage a full time person to give the opportunity to the GYC to be on the same level such as other civil society actors such as the Gozo Tourism Association, Gozo Business Chamber, and Gozo Sports Board whom all have two full time employees.”

2) A Youth Hub in Gozo – a youth hub which is to be incorporated in the heart of the youth and their day-to-day basis to achieve its full potential. “The flourishing success the youth hubs in Malta are experiencing are a prime example. These youth hubs not only gather youths, but also offer them better alternatives for their free time.”

3) A Youth Pass for the Gozo Channel – This initiative will enable Maltese youths with a reduced price which will encourage them to visit Gozo during the low season and participate in the numerous cultural events organised in Gozo.
