MaltaPost celebrates this Friday’s World Post Day 2015

On the 9th of October the Postal Community all around the world including MaltaPost celebrate World Post Day. This day enables everyone to reflect with satisfaction on a rich history of transformation within an industry which has played such a pivotal role in the world’s marketplace. The Post can pride itself on being the oldest medium of communication, one that still plays a key role in the transmission of information and goods, said MaltaPost.

As outlined by the Universal Postal Union’s Director General Bishar Abdirahman Hussein in his message for the 2015 World Post Day, the traditional postal business line which was reliant on letter post,has been greatly challenged by faster and more efficient ways of communication thanks to the advancement in information and communications technologies. The survival of the post hinges on its ability to quickly change and innovate.

MaltaPost said that it addresses this challenge by continuously enhancing and diversifying its service offering whilst ensuring the best possible service.

The Company said that it has enhanced its clients’ online shopping experience with the launch of SendOn granting the opportunity to thousands of local consumers to shop from UK online stores particularly from those which do not ship directly to Malta. “Now with the launch of SendOn USA and soon SendOn Germany and Italy the Maltese consumer can shop from e-sellers worldwide from the comfort of their home or office.”

Dr Edward Woods, Chairman of the Malta Communications Authority, the regulatory body responsible for Post in Malta, stated “The Authority concurs that MaltaPost has been actively investing to provide a better service to the general public in light of recent postal trends, and at the same time retaining its universal service obligations by offering conventional postal services. The Authority also acknowledges that MaltaPost has also managed to surpass the Quality of Service targets for the universal postal service which were set among the highest in Europe by the Malta Communications Authority in 2014.”
