“Labour-led councils should be consistent against ODZ development,” said Front Harsien ODZ in a statement today.
In a meeting with the Councillors Section of the Labour Party, Front Harsien ODZ appealed to Labour-led local councils to be consistently pro-active against development on ODZ land.
“Two striking examples in this regard include the proposal of 15 villas at Ta’ Cenc, and the proposal of the non-American non-University of Sadeen in Zonqor.”
The Front said that, “as regards Ta’ Cenc, we will fully support the Sannat Local Council if it opposes the proposal, which will ruin the landscape and the ecology of this pristine area.”
“As regards Zonqor, we find it very strange that the M’Scala Local Council, apart from its Labour deputy Mayor and Nationalist Councillors, is not opposing the proposed development, when the same council is opposing the development of a tourism project in Munxar Malta. Unless the local council is consistent, its credibility will be questioned.”
“Front Harsien ODZ, concluded by saying that it is meeting all political parties and is “ready to work with all those supporting the protection of ODZ land”
