Ghajnsielem's St Joseph Band recently held its Annual General Meeting, during which it announced to the members present three major projects for the year ahead as it celebrated the 50th anniversary from when it was reborn again following the end of the Second World War.

Club President Gino Cauchi, unveiled the logo and announced a series of activities which will be spread throughout the year to mark this event.

Club Secretary Kevin Cauchi presented a detailed administrative report of the activates held last year and gave details of the projects planned for 2016 including

1.The renovation of the club premises's facade with a new illumination system, marble skirting and pointing of the stone. This project is expected to cost around €18,000 – €20,000

2. A bust of Joseph Attard in bronze, with a marble platform, the artistic work of Manuel Farrugia. Joseph Attard is the second founder of the society. In May 1966, he, together with some other enthusiasts, made a formal plea to the Director of the Institute for the use of the Institute and the old Society's musical instruments, With this plea granted, the St Joseph Band was reborn once again. The bust is executed to cost around €5,000.

3. Two garages will be interconnected to enlarge the current 'Mahzen tal-Armar' underneath the band club. A large garage door will also be opened. This will pave way for works on the iron structure of the new "Plancier" (musical stage) to start.

The Snooker Hall is also expected to be inaugurated this May. Meanwhile, Treasurer Elvin Tabone gave a financial analyses of last year's operations together with a financial outlook for the year ahead. A number of fundraising events were also announced.
