The Communist Party of Malta, in a statement today, said that it is really disappointed with the way immigration in Europe is being addressed.

"The closing of borders, the rising in popularity of far right parties, the amount of migrants losing their life in the Mediterranean Sea and the lack of class consciousness towards immigration are all an indication of a society in decline."

It said that, "with regards class consciousness and immigration, Lenin said that the upper classes incite the workers of one nation against those of another in the endeavour to keep them disunited. This is what is happening in Europe now with the emergence of the far right parties."

The Communist Party of Malta also expressed solidarity with volunteers working at Integra Foundation's Dinja Wahda (One World) drop-in centre in Valletta, who found a swastika scrawled onto their sign outside their premises.
